What to Wear

What You Need to Know Before You Go

Skydiving is not difficult or physically strenuous. The minimum age requirement is 16, but there is no maximum age for skydiving. As far as the weight requirement, typically, it depends on the skydiving equipment being used, but the industry standard dictates a maximum of 225 pounds. Do not fly on an empty stomach, but don't overindulge; eat something light. Do not drink and fly!!

So, there I was, standing at the edge of a plane 15,000 feet above the Las Vegas Strip, about to embark on my first skydiving adventure. As the wind whipped through my hair and my heart raced with excitement (or was it fear), I couldn't help but wonder what the hell I had gotten myself into. I mean, sure, the idea of soaring through the sky like a bird sounded exhilarating in theory, but now that I was actually faced with the reality of it, I wasn't so sure. I have always been a thrill-seeker, but this was a whole new level. As my instructor and I slowly inched toward the open door, my mind was a jumble of thoughts – will my parachute actually open, what if I throw up on the way down, and, most importantly, will I survive to tell the tale? But before I could dwell on these existential questions any longer, my instructor and I were plummeting toward the Earth at breakneck speed. The initial rush of freefall was like nothing I had ever experienced before – a mix of both terror and exhilaration. As soon as the parachute deployed and we were slowly and gracefully floating to the ground, a sense of calm washed over me. The view of this sprawling city below was breathtaking, and for a moment, I forgot about the fact that I had just willingly jumped out of a perfectly good airplane. As we landed safely, the adrenaline was still pumping through my veins, and I felt like I could conquer anything. So, would I do it again? Absolutely.
